The championship leader starts from the back at his home race, and Ferrari get a legal engine upgrade at theirs. Monza was always going to matter. It's turned into the weekend the title fight either tightens or doesn't.
Antonelli has 242 points, 59 clear of Russell and Hamilton, who are tied on 183. Norris is 83 points back but has won the last two races. With Antonelli starting last, this is the best opening his rivals have had all year.
The FIA runs a catch-up system called ADUO, which stands for Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities. Manufacturers more than 2% behind the best engine get an upgrade. Manufacturers more than 4% behind get two. Ferrari, Audi and Honda were all judged more than 4% back. Ferrari are bringing one of those upgrades to Monza, and Hamilton and Leclerc are expected to run it this weekend.
Red Bull currently have the best engine, so they get no upgrades at all. A second review after Hungary confirmed it. So the team that's fourth and winless this season officially has the best engine in F1.
There's also a special SF-26 livery, reportedly inspired by the 1996 F310, with black accents and gold wheels. It'll be revealed just before the weekend. The race suits are already out. All of it is a tribute to Michael Schumacher: it's 30 years since his first Ferrari win at Monza, and 20 since his last F1 win.
On Hadjar, he says his wrist is "healing fast" and that he's hopeful for Monza. He fractured a bone in it during the shutdown and missed Zandvoort. Red Bull are leaving the call as late as they can, with a decision expected on Wednesday. If he isn't fit, Lawson races again and Tsunoda partners Lindblad. Lawson has been kept with the senior team all week just in case, after finishing seventh at Zandvoort on his return.
Eleven races left. Ferrari get more power at home, Antonelli starts last, and Red Bull can't fix their engine.
